It seems most fitting for a class about media and communications to first have the predictable yet indispensable exercise of self-presentation in a mediated environment. Obviously the manner of communication in cyberspace is starkly different from face-to-face interaction, with the loss of many symbolic cues--from body language to the rise and fall of voice pitch. But much are added as well--from the adoption of avatars to the narrative closure afforded by one's writing of a beginning, middle, and end. And in both types of communication, the challenge is to make a good first impression. What is frustrating--and exciting--of course is that we simply don't know just how our audience will react, respond, remember, reply. Also, with the affordances of technology: forward, comment, poke, reject, refer, block, flame, spam.
However this site, and this class, is a site of hospitality. It is a site of learning and exchange. It aims to be a space premised not simply on reason and/or emotion, but on responsibility, Roger Silverstone's (2006) lofty requirement for a mediaspace.
I am happy to welcome you to the website of Introduction to Communication, Com11 Sections B and E, 1st Semester SY 2007-2008. I wish that you treat this online space not simply as a supplement to our offline lectures but as a meaningful resource for learning, an active and vibrant space for discussion, and a shared experience with your fellow classmates and lecturer.
Kindly reply to this post and introduce yourself below so that we can get our discussions going. Aside from your name and section, of course, I'd especially like to know why you picked your course (ComTech), what you think about media (products, programs, platforms, issues, etc), and how much time you spend on the media in a typical day.
Switching to a different medium, please bring a 5x7" index card with 2x2" ID photo on Thursday, June 21. Please include: name, section, birth date, and contact information (cell phone and email address).
June 21, Thursday is the first classroom lecture. Please be prepared with the Silverstone and McQuail readings.

Hey!
Err....
1) I'm Jackie Crisostomo
2) I'm in Com11-B
3) Why Comtech? Simple-- it's an infusion of my passion and interest-- communication and technology.
4) Media-- alters perceptions and forms realities.
5) How many hours do I spend with media? Seriously? Probably the only time I'm not exposed to media is when I'm sleeping (or probably even less.)
Well, that's what you get to be the first one!
Hahaha!

Thanks for the brave first post, Jackie.
Jackie, kindly communicate to your classmates the proper website address. I heard from our Dept Secretary that students have approached her, saying that they have been unable to access the website.
The perils of mediated interaction indeed!
Hi.. Hello..
Thanks Jackie for the site.. c",)
1.) I'm Van Joseph V. Vergara
2.) I'm in Com11-B
3.) I chose Comtech because this course is one of the most flexible courses which means a lot of job opportunities in the future... And also, it offers a lot of things to learn yet in only one compact course.
4.) Media is just the manifestation of the real world
5.) When I'm not in front of my pc, I watch tv so basically, media occupies a lot of time in my everyday life...
Ayan.. I'm the second I think..
whew! finally got to access the correct website!:) thanks to Jackie!:p hahah..
1) Mark Tiu
2) I'm in Com11-B as well
3) I chose ComTech as my course because of it's combination of what I believe as essential elements of business especially in the continually progressing world that we live in (thanks to globalization) haha:p I realized that to be competent enough in the business world, you have to be in touch with communication and technology. So that's why ComTech:)
4) The Media connects different worlds, the real and the imaginary. It acts as a bridge for one to see that imaginations can be made real thru media.
5) I spend most of my time with media. It is a huge part of my daily routine. From computers to tv.. :p so I'm pretty much in good terms with media:p

3) I asked if ateneo had a course on advertising, well they showed me this course so i took it. And since it had the word management in it, i got hooked.
4)Media is a way of influencing others of your own ideas.
5)How many hours do i spend with media? Not much, just when i am not doing anything.
Hello Sir. I deleted my reply above since it can't be edited. So, here, the edited one :D
1. I am Brian del Rosario.
2. The reason why I chose Comtech is that the amalgamation of Communications and Management alongside with an overview and practice of Computer Science would eventually -hopefully - mold me as a business manager who can respond to the needs of today's business cosmos.
3. I believe that media is the representation of the world now - a gauge of how society has progressed and how fast/slow it progresses.
4. How much time do I spend with media? Same as Jackie's. I think.
Have a safe trip home! Bon Voyage!
Ola! Just applying what I've learned.
1) I'm Klarizza Anne Rose Laza but you can call me Iza fro short.
2) Com11 B
3) I chose ComTech for the reason that all the courses namely, Management, Communications and Information Technology are combined into one. It's amazing how the school made a curriculum to cater to people who wanted the same courses as I did.
4)Media is everywhere and influences everyone. It becomes a bridge for different nations and cultures. Not only that, it is also a venue for us to learn and at the same time be destroyed by what we see and hear.
5) Since media is everywhere I think I'm exposed to it 24/7. Hahahaha.
See you soon!
It will be interesting to see just how "viral" the media can be. So far, only Com11B students have posted. I'm guessing the Com11E students are still scratching their heads over the URL. Please continue posting; I'll be using some of your responses in the lecture. And please continue to spread the word about the correct website address!

3)Why I chose Comtech: Fate.
When i was choosing which courses
I was going to apply for, i just got the list of courses, pinned it on the wall and threw a few darts. The courses where my darts landed were ECE, Bio and comtech to name a few. After the entrance exam I was alerted that I passed, with the course, BS Management, major in Communications Technology Management.
4)Media-- a field where I have always dreamed of entering.
5)I am exposed to media, 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, 4 1/2 weeks a month, 367 days a year... well you get it.
Regards.

Hi! I'm Vanina Chua from Com 11 section B.
1. I chose ComTech because it is a mixture of com, IT, and management.
2. I believe that the media is a powerful tool especially here in our country. When used properly, it can be informative and helpful to the citizens (example: News Reports, Newspapers, Educational Tapes, etc.) On the other hand, if it is misused, it can cause havoc to the people. (example: using the media to play a song that's not worth listening to)
3. I think that I am always exposed to media. Sometimes I listen to some news reports in the morning and during evenings, I usually check my mails or sometimes watch tv, and of course I always use my cellphone. :)
i just came from the comm dept. and waited in class with some of my other classmates...
Thank God that one classmate of ours checked on us and said that June 21 was the first class and also told us the right address for this site!
well.. I'm Jan Darryl E. Sioson of Com11 Section E.
My friends call me Jiggs (long story on how i got that nickname.hehe)
I chose Comtech as my course because its course description interested me most out of all the Management courses..hehe
Up to now, i still don't know if Comtech is the right course for me..Im still looking for my real passion in life..hehe
I think media is a very good instrument for education...
Media makes different people interact...media connects us...
it forms people's imaginations...
ummm...if mean "media" in the form of radio and movies.... i spend almost 3/4 of my day on it....
other than that... i get my part of media only when im at school... hehe
Camille Marie M. Cabrera
Com11-B
Why ComTech: I think it's practical because of its 3 components--management, communications and IT/technology--which are in demand right now and will be able to present lots of opportunities for me in the future.
Media: very influential.
I watch TV and use the PC every night; that's it. :)
Hello :)
I'm Esther Lauren M. Perez, please call me esther. I'm also from section B.
2. I chose COMTECH because...
-it's the course that caught my attention while I was reading the manual for course descriptions. It sounded modern, practical and fun.Interesting.
- I also got my mom's "approval" for this one.
-I like seeing the confused look that people get when they hear "BS Comtech". Luckily, I am now able to give a justified description of what Comtech is.
3. I think media is something that binds people together. It urges people to be open minded and to have a better understanding of others and also themselves.
4. Not counting vacations to really rural places and sleeping time, I'd have to say that I spend pretty much all of my time with media exposure. :)
Hi! I'm Armina Bianca Juco... I'm also in Com11 section B.
I have always pictured myself working for one form of media or another that is why Comtech immediately caught my attention as I was breezing through Ateneo's course manual.
Due to media's inevitability and accessibility, I would say it is the most effective(and at times, most distorted) means of communication.
If i'm not sleeping, I'm probably downloading some song or watching the episode I missed from the series I'm currently obsessed with.
Over-exposed? Definitely.
Hello Sir!
Ok, so, first things first. I'm Patricia Custodio.
2. I'm in Com11-B.
3. Why exactly did I choose Comtech? Well, I read the description and I loved it. I've always been interested in both Comm and Management. So, Comtech seemed like the perfect course for me.
4. The media is a very powerful and effective tool that can really influence people.
5. How many hours? Hmm. Well, I wanted to say same as Jackie and Brian but I realized that even when I'm sleeping, I'm downloading music or episodes of Grey's Anatomy or Heroes or How I Met Your Mother or whatever series I'm into at the moment. So, I guess that makes me exposed to media pretty much all the time. :))
Hi
This is James Wilbur Cruz of Com11-E
I chose comtech largely dahil sinabi ng parents ko na mas flexible ang management, but I also like infodesign. Comtech seems to be the course that would be the closest match.
Like all other things, media had its good and bad characteristics. Media could be considered as a superpower. In general it has the ability to quickly change the social standards of a society, it could retain it, and even revive an old, abandoned one. It could provide good, productive information, or something that is the opposite. (hmmm, this looks cheesy, but i often answer stuff that way, hehe)
BTW i'm exposed to media for at least, approx., 8 hours a day. that includes cable TV, internet and radio (i sleep with the radio on)
Hi Mr. Ong!
I'm Patricia Bautista from Com11-B. I chose ComTech as my course because I feel that it will train me in fields that are relevant and useful to what I want to do in the future.
I think media is often over analyzed or scrutinized, but i guess it's only because we are bombarded by it.
Media is definitely inescapable, I agree with Jackie... I'm not exposed to media only when I'm asleep.
-Pat B.
1.) I'm Jerome RiƱa
2.) Com11-B
3.) I like movies and business. So it was either a communication course or a business course but with comtech, I could have both.
4.) Media is everything except.....it's everything.
5.) How much time do i spend with media? Not enough.
Hi Sir!
I'm Chona Teresa Abad
Com11-B
Why Comtech? Well honestly, at first I didn't really know what this course is all about. I was just caught by the word "advertising" in it's description so I chose it.
Media is a link to people. It serves as eyes and ears to their surroundings.
Hours spent in media? only when I'm watching t.v. and using my computer except for the news part because i'm not really much into it.
1.) I'm Bonbelle Cerbo
2.) class Com 11-B
3.) Why comtech? Simply because all my interests are integrated in this course.
4.) The Media is a puppetmaster.
5.) How many hours do I spend with media? more or less 24/7.
Good day/evening!
Sorry it took me quite some time before I could figure out my Google password. Anyways...
I'm Esme < pronounced, but not spelled as, [Esmee] > Fong from Com11-B.
Why comtech? Well... why not??
I want to be a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. Yup, that's not a typo. In my point of view, knowing about various things will allow more movement and growth unlike when you know everything about a single thing. My interests lie both in business and the arts. Hence, I took up Comtech. It's all about learning serious business while exploring the power of media, which then leads me to my opinion about media.
Media captures not only attention (and profits) but also habits and even cultures. It is so powerful and influential that it can even turn fantasy into reality. Whether that's something to smile about or not is another question though.
But I do know that media is a reality in my life. I sit in front of the TV and my laptop right after I come home from wherever, and not to forget tuning into the radio while riding home from wherever. Can't live without it!
Hello Mr. Ong from across the miles! (If you're still in London)
I'm Kai Honasan
-from Com11-B
-who is in ComTech Mgt basically because I was a right-brainer aspiring to be a left-brainer and I believe CTM is supposed to satisfy that?
-believes that Media is puro EK, EK, EK -- connEKts, dirEKts and affEKts. Connects people, directs trends and affects society.
-Let's put it this way, the sound of the TV puts me to sleep and my iPod wakes me up.
I'm Michael Pasco but you can call me Binks...
I'm in Com11 B taking up ComTech....
Well, I took up the said course because it had the best course description..., and it was not concentrated in the Management aspect alone but in the Communication part as well....
Media influences a lot of people...,especially the young ones who are exposed to different forms.
I usually spend four to five hours watching television and surfing the net.
My name is Nadine Leslie S. Tan. I'm in Com11 section B.
I was pretty much undecided on what course to take when I was filling up my college application form back then. I couldn't make up my mind because I seem to have lots of interests. A day before the set deadline, I had two courses in mind, either I'll take MECO or ComTech. I chose the former as my first choice and the latter as my second. Days later, I had sleepless nights because I kept on thinking if I indeed made the right decision; hence, when I learned that I passed the ACET, I immediately changed my mind and asked if I could shift to ComTech because it's a more complete package! Comm + CS + Mkt--> who could top that?! Gladly, the OAA granted my request. Well, after being a ComTech student for a year and spending time with all the other creative and fun-filled ComTech people, I knew it was the best decision that I ever made.
For me, Media is the major courier of information worldwide. It bridges the world of fantasy and reality.
How many hours do I spend with media?! hmmm...24/7 no doubt about it!
hello,
1) I am Irma Sy
2) I am in Com11-B
3) Why did i choose Comtech? simple. because i ran out good courses to choose from.. just kidding.. hehe. I chose this course because it not only focuses on the business side, but it also enriches the creative side of people which in my opinion is harder to learn or teach and creativity is really really important in the "real world".
4) Media changes the world
5) every waking moment of my life.. about 18 hrs a day?
Hi Sir, i'm Jasmine Denise Calalang Santos. Just call me Denise. :) Also from section B.
Why ComTech? I strongly believe that ComTech is the course of our time and the future. In this competetive world, management skills are no longer sufficient for success. Leadership, through communication, is another core quality. This course offers practice in both fields. [Also, i enjoy the benefits of technlogy and would like to LEARN about it more. :)]
Media, as stated in our assigned reading, is a representation of reality and vice versa.
In one whole day, i'm exposed to media for around 60%. That's 14.4 hours, to be exact. :)
See you later!
By the way, i'm the beadle for this class. :)
Hey Sir.
I'm Michelle Varandmal from Com11-E.
I chose the course ComTech because it was one of the few courses that seemed interesting and practical to me (the others being AB MECO and AB EU) due to the integration of 3 different fields: management, communication and technology.
Combined, I think this makes the course very useful and also as previously stated in the other entries, very flexible.
For me, Media is a very important entity in our world. It's power is so overwhelming in such a way that it has the manipulative capability of influencing its "audience". It does so by choosing what to reveal and at the same time what to conceal or vise versa and therefore, should not be solely trusted.
Still, the knowledge of this doesn't hinder me from liking or patronizing some media forms. I'm exposed to it the whole day, everyday (since I'm almost always using my computer or if not, watching TV and while sleeping, I always make it a point to have music or any sound for that matter blasting out of somewhere because silence scares me)
That's it...
:)
Hi!
Im Carlo Nombres. Com11-E.
I had just shifted to ComTech this sem and im glad that i made the right choice. Even since i was in highschool, I loved watching movies and making films/presentations for class projects and I believe that this course will further enhance my talents in this field seeing the electives available in junior year in line with media and film making. ^^
Unfortunately, im not that positive to all forms of media specially news in televisions and newspapers. I believe that here in our country and in all societies in general abuses the unmatched influencial power that news media posseses. =(
Hmm... even when im asleep i sometimes dream about movies and tv shows that i love watching. so im not so sure how to answer this question... hehe!
Hey!!
I'm Nathan Ernest Yu.
I'm from Com 11 section E
I chose Comtech because it sounded fun. I also liked the integration of comm, management and tech because it gives me a better view of the world.
Media is free entertainment which we have everyday.
And, I guess I use the media everyday for roughly the whole day.
It's free eh...
hi Mr. Ong! :)
1) I'm Anne Silva from Com11-B
2) I shifted to Comtech because it's more flexible than my previous course. It also delves on advertising, production, and media, which is where i want my career to be in.
3) Like Pat B., i think media is over scrutinized because it's all around us 24/7. I think people blame media too much for things that could go wrong (like eating disorders, worldliness of youth, premarital sex, etc.) because they don't process the information that is involuntarily fed to them. I think people aren't responsible enough about what they are exposed to.
3) Like the others, the only time i'm not exposed to media is when i'm sleeping. :P
Hi! Sorry for posting late..
I am Rey Mari Antonio M. Angeles from Com11-E. R.A. is my nickname (though a lot of people insist that it should be R.M.A.). Selecting the degree program that I should pursue was by far the toughest choice I had to make. It was hard because a lot of people questioned my choice to take up this degree program. Many argued that I should have taken up an honors course or have gone to UP instead. Nevertheless, I have not regretted my choice because I have prayed for this for such a long time and I am simply fulfilling God's will. Besides, I believe that the course complements my creative personality and it also allows me to have time for orgs.
Regarding media, I would say that television has influenced me the most. I usually spend my evenings watching local programs (game shows and soaps). These programs relieve me from the stress I receive from school and they indeed help in temporarily casting away my problems and frustrations. Media is indeed powerful as it unconsciously isolates me from reality even just for a second.
heya sir ong!
> i'm denise joanna tan. but i just call me Yani :P
> i'm in com11-B
> why choose comtech? well i actually shifted from ab com to comtech because it offers different areas of study [com + IT + management], including my previous course. and oddly enough, i like math so i had to shift to comtech to satisfy my interests. but it was my parents who pushed me to a management-related course because it is more practical and assures me of many job opportunities.
> media depicts realities and fantasies, the good and the bad, the possible and the impossible, the right and the wrong... it influences you, me... and just about everyone of us.
> how many hours do i spend with the media? 24. i have no choice; media IS everywhere.
Hi!
I'm Maan Bernardino from Com11 Section E. :)
I chose ComTech as my course because it reconciled what I originally wanted to take up in college (Communications), what course my mom wanted for me to take up in college(Management) and what I thought was invaluable knowledge for any (would-be) graduate in today's modern world(Technology).
Media is power. It sets the standards: it creates and at the same time breaks the norms of society. Manipulation of its audience is almost always inevitable.
Media is inescaple. How many hours am I exposed to media? I think the question is how many hours am I NOT exposed to it. ;p
Hi Sir!
Sandy Tiu here, from Com11-E.
I chose ComTech because I've always had this habit of multi-tasking things. I love being productive, and ComTech allows me to continue being like that. I believe it will develop my abilities further & make me a more well-rounded person towards my dreams.
Media creates reality. It dictates to us what to think, what the society is and how to be. But despite these, media is just a part of life and must not be our life.
But then again, media is everywhere. You drive to school, there's the billboards, the radio. You get home there's television, internet. Media has become too involved in our lives that I doubt we've ever lived a day without being exposed to it.
Sorry for the uber late reply, though I live in this technologically advanced and modernized society, I'm still to develop the habit of frequenting internet sites for class matters.
My Name's Gelo Clavano, from section E. Basically, I'm a new shiftee into Comtech, I shifted out from M.E. The math wasn't exactly the area I had originally thought of it. Why Comtech then? Well, one of my major interests is film, and I have always been interested them and in television as well, though only last year did I really realize what Comtech was all about. And poof, here I am.
Well, Media is basically the "One Ring" to our Frodo. We may think we are in control, and to a certain extent its survival is dependent on our existence, however, the more we are exposed to it, the more it takes us over, changing our lives, beliefs, and our choices. thats a movie buff for you. :P
How many hours? oh... roughly... 164,250 hours, give or take a couple of days.
Hello Sir! Nadia Po from Com11-E here. :)
Anyway, I chose Comtech mainly because it incorporates three of the most powerful industries of today- IT, business and media (communications). I believe that this course would serve as a good training ground for students to become highly competitive in diverse fields. Plus, it sounds more fun as compared to the other SOM courses.
For me, media is the single, most powerful tool ever created. It defines the "truths" and sets the standards for almost all aspects of life.
Media has been an integral part of my system already. I'm inseparable from it..
Hi Sir!
I’m Patricia Lampa from Com 11- E.
I chose ComTech because I’ve always been interested in business; at the same time, I like to get my creative juices flowing once in a while. Management would have been a sensible choice for me; however, I didn’t want to take such a ‘generic’ course, especially since nowadays specializations merit plus points or give a person somewhat of an edge over the rest. Given all this, I believe ComTech caters to all that I’m looking for. It’s a business course integrated with (and specializes in) communication and is suitable for those interested – such as myself – in the likes of public relations, advertising, marketing and so on. In addition, people say ComTech is just like Management, only ComTech students have more fun. ☺
Media is both a tool and a weapon – that is, of course, depending on how we use it and apply it to our lives. It has the power to help people; at the same time it can also cause considerable amount of damage upon society. In addition to this, it is one of the few things in our lives that is truly omnipresent, which further heightens the extent of its influence upon us.
My level of media exposure is (almost) like 7/11 – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Perhaps, the only time my life doesn’t involve media is when I’m asleep. But then again, I do have my iPod playing while I’m sleeping and my cellphone on my bedside, so I suppose that counts as media exposure as well.
Good Morning Sir
1.) My name is Conrad Marcelo but people call me by my nickname "Sean" and my block(R2) ,who are very mean to me, calls me Jugoy. I dont know why.
2.) I'm from Com11 section E
3.) I chose my Course ComTech because its a mix of two different aspects and thrown in with a bit of management.
4.) Media is a very powerful tool in addressing one's aim or motive. Media can also be use to "twist" certain things to take form in another.
5.) I am exposed to media all the time especially to my computer and my television.
ciao :)
hello sir
hmmm...
1. I'm John Eero L. Regino, just call me Eero for short :)
2. I'm in Comm11-E
3. Why COMTECH you ask? For me, COMTECH would be the ideal course especially for our generation. It's a mix of communication, IT and management, and ideal mix for today's world. Why take only one course when you can take three for the price of one eh? :)
4. Media- hmm...it's like in the movie the matrix, it's the pill that you take to stay in wonderland, the only difference is, you could always go back to reality.
5. well i guess i'm exposed to the media all the time. i think the only time i'm NOT exposed to the media is when i'm in my "office" pondering on some thoughts... :)
well, that's me Eero, sorry for the late post sir XD
Hello, Sorry I'm late.
1. Hector "Champ" Yason
2. Com11-E
3. I chose COMTECH because I believe that it is a holistic and timely course that will help me get to where I want to be in the future while allowing me to do what makes me happy in the process.
4. The media reminds me of spiderman, especially the quote: "With great power comes great responsibility." I'm not saying that I'm a fan of this line, but it is somehow relevant to media. This is because MEDIA, in my opinion, is one of the most powerful forces in the world today; moreover, it is entrusted to man. Thus, a great, GREAT deal of RESPONSIBILY is needed to keep it from being a medium of destruction for man. It is like the atomic bomb, only more powerful because it spreads farther and, sometimes, without us knowing. How to use this very powerful weapon is our choice to make.
5. My dreams are my only escape from media.
Hi, sir... sorry.
I had some trouble with the site and the sign up thing.
thank you.
hello sir! sorry for the late post
1 I'm Kristofer de Jesus
2 Com11-E
3 I chose comtech mainly because i like the combination of communication, management and technology. i wanted a business course and comtech immediately caught my attention. and its fun :D
4 for me media is both good and bad because it can be a powerful tool for knowledge but at the same time it can also be very manipulative.
5 hm the whole day?
hi sir, sorry for the delay. i'm erin montenejo from com11-E.
i chose comtech because the course i had in mind originally was management. when i saw the courses ateneo is offering, i thought why not get a management course with a little something else. something that i would actually like and hopefully enjoy. i like dealing with people; i like talking to them, getting to know them. so maybe this is where communication comes in. and in our world today, it's quite hard to ignore technology- after all, it's very useful and it has helped us in many ways. i'm not as computer savvy as other people but i'm willing to learn.
media is a tool that connects all of us and "flattens the world". everything seems a bit closer to home because of media.
uhh.. im exposed to media.. uhh... just like everyone else- 24hours a day, 7 days a week.... 365 days a year.. he he he
sorry for the long overdue post.
im Rina Reinoso of com11B
i actually chose comtech initially because of my busmate, i didn't have a first choice then becuase i was depending on my 2d choice which is polsci. i copied her first choice not really expecting to pass for it.. and voila! im in comtech. hehe.
dont get me wrong, even though i believe im in comtech at first by chance, the subjects and the scope of the course is really making me stay (no matter how difficult acctg 15 may get).
media is just a creation of man, therefore man can control it and never the other way around as some would conclude today. it can be both an escape or a nudge to reality for anyone.
hmm, how many hours? well, usually i wake up, turn on my computer and TV.. eat while using both then sleep.
though now, i don't have a TV in my dorm. i think im dying.... but thank God for my roomate's pirated DVDs (no matter how illegal it may sound). haha.
-rina

Sorry for the late post. I was not able to access the site.

This has been long overdue, and i am truly sorry.
I am Manolo Penalosa, but i prefer to be called Bonz, which is my nickname. My section is Com11-E.
Comtech was such a luring course for me because of the description it had, which for my interents, stood out among the other SOM courses I was checking out. It seemed to touch the essential parts of my lifestyle. Com and Tech and managing it. Haha!
Media for me is a love-hate relationship. I personally love media because I cannot live without it, but i also hate media because of the things I have to live with in and around it.
I practically spend every moment with media, even in my sleep i dream about it. Honestly.

Hi sir!
I am Exzell Angelo T. Macomb of Com11-B
You can call me Exzell, Peter, Gregory or Maximus (the last three are the names that i use when buying in starbucks :D)
I am very sorry sir for the super overdue post.
Anyway, let me say something about myself...
I am in Comtech right now because my parents "asked" me to hehe... my first choice was really Com. But then, Comtech in a way is like Com only there's the "tech" and the "management." With that,I think the course has a lot to offer.
I wouldn't say that media is all that bad because it really is a technological advancement. It depends on those who are taking control of it - either to make good use of the media or abuse it. It also depends on the one accepting the media or the consumers of media to be critical in absorbing what the media presents or not.
I watch tv everyday and I also use the computer everyday and the sad part is that i am easily distracted by them.
Hehe...that's it and i am planning to participate more in class discussions. I am shy kasi :D
